Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Receipify ("we", "our", or "the app") handles your information when you use our mobile application.

1. Summary

Receipify is designed with privacy first. Your receipt data and spending information are stored locally on your deviceand are never uploaded to our servers. We do not have a user account system and do not collect personally identifiable information.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Receipt images: Photos you capture or select from your photo library are sent to an AI processing service solely to extract expense data (vendor, amount, date, category, etc.). Images are not stored by us after processing.
  • User preferences: Name, role, preferred currency, and custom categories you set during onboarding are stored locally on your device only.

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

  • Usage data: Scan counts and quota usage are tracked locally on-device to enforce subscription limits.
  • Anonymous subscription ID: RevenueCat generates a random device-level identifier to manage your subscription entitlement. This ID is not linked to your identity.

2.3 Data We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect your name, email address, or any contact information.
  • We do not track your location.
  • We do not have access to your device's photo library beyond images you explicitly select.
  • We do not build advertising profiles.

4. Third-Party Services

We integrate with the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:

4.1 RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions and validate purchase entitlements. RevenueCat receives an anonymous user ID and purchase transaction data from Apple/Google. RevenueCat does not receive your receipt or expense data.

4.2 OpenRouter AI

Receipt images you scan are sent to OpenRouter's API to perform text extraction (OCR). The image is used solely for this purpose and is not associated with your identity. Please review OpenRouter's data retention policies before use.

4.3 Currency Exchange APIs

To convert foreign currency amounts, the app queries Frankfurter (frankfurter.app) and open.er-api.com for exchange rates. These requests contain no personal data.

4.4 Apple App Store / Google Play Store

Subscription purchases are processed by Apple or Google. Their respective privacy policies govern those transactions.

5. Data Storage and Security

  • All receipt data, spending history, and preferences are stored in a local SQLite database on your device.
  • We do not operate servers that store your financial or personal data.
  • Data security is subject to your device's operating system protections (encryption, passcode, Face ID, etc.).

6. Data Retention and Deletion

  • All app data lives on your device. You can delete it at any time by uninstalling the app.
  • We do not retain copies of your data on external servers.
  • To delete your RevenueCat subscription record, contact us at the address below.

7. Children's Privacy

Receipify is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app and provided personal information, please contact us.

8. Permissions

We request only the permissions needed for core functionality. You may deny these permissions; however, receipt scanning features will be unavailable without them.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
